New York-based BigStar infused the fast-paced main titles for Apple TV Plus’ new four-part docu-series, Super League: The War for Football, with tech and data to emphasize the way the quick rise and fall of the proposed European league played out in April 2021.

”We designed a title sequence for the 4-part series that moves at a pace reflective of the rapid succession of events surrounding the emergent league and sets the stage for the story of the high stakes battle that threatened to upend the future of European football,” writes BigStar on its website.

The European Super League was proposed to be a league that would rival the UEFA Champions League and be composed of twenty European football clubs, six of them English. Upon its surprise announcement, almost everyone not directly involved with the new league objected, with the result being that the venture failed before then facing legal proceedings.

The series is executive produced by Words + Pictures Connor Schell, co-founder and former executive producer of ESPN’s renowned 30 for 30 series, and Words + Pictures EVP Libby Geist, former VP and EP of ESPN Films and original content. It is directed by Jeff Zimbalist. It premiered on Apple TV Plus on Friday, January 13.
