“Ain’t nobody scared of you,” says an axe-wielding, gun-aiming Harriet Tubman (Aisha Hinds) in a fearless scene from the newest look at season two of WGN’s original drama Underground.
The 30-second promo focuses on the heroic efforts of the legendary American abolitionist and her efforts to help free people held captive as slaves in the United States, a country on the brink of civil war. The clip also shows gun-toting white slave catchers thirsty to thwart Tubman’s efforts and the other runaway slaves who they view as fugitives.
Pulled from the annals of history, the 10-episode second season of Underground takes place in an increasingly divided United States on the verge of all-out war. Set in the wake of the Macon 7’s daring efforts to stage the greatest escape in history, this group of American heroes continues on their excruciating journey to freedom. The series’ regular cast includes Christopher Meloni and Marc Blucas. Recurring guest stars are Hinds, Jasika Nicole, DeWanda Wise, Michael Trotter, Jesse Luken, Sadie Stratton and John Legend.
Underground, produced by Sony Pictures TV, hails from creators and executive producers Misha Green and Joe Pokaski, and executive producers Legend, Akiva Goldsman, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell.
Underground premieres March 10 at 8 p.m. ET on WGN America.
