Fans of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” don’t have to wait for the Oct. 13 season-four premiere to get their next zombie fix: the network announced Thursday that new webisodes are coming our way beginning next week.

For the third season in a row, AMC has produced an exclusive companion webisode series that will premiere Oct. 1 on the network’s website and YouTube channel.

The three-part series, produced and directed by “Walking Dead” EP Greg Nicotero, follows the three lone survivors of a massive walker attack as they frantically search for an aid station before one of them bleeds to death.

Much like the main series, both previous seasons of “Walking Dead” webisodes have garnered critical praise, winning Streamy, WGA, and Webby awards.

“The Webisodes give us a unique opportunity to see other parts of the ravaged world of ‘The Walking Dead’ while weaving in and out of our show,” Nicotero said.

The series, called “The Oath,” was produced by Alloy Digital/Generate, with Chris Pollack, Jared Hoffman, Greg Nicotero and Michael Petok as executive producers. Hyundai has signed on again to sponsor the webisode series.

Brief Take: Webisodes and companion content are here to stay, with the smart shows using them to hook viewers during the off-season or drive tune-in ahead of season premieres.
