The numbers are in! For the past four weeks, Univision has taken the No. 1 spot in the 18-49 demographic. This summer rise and the success it depicts are no trifling matters, and Univision has taken to video and print to make sure everyone knows about its latest accomplishment.
On its site, Univision posted a video this week announcing: “For the first time ever, Univision is now the No. 1 network in any language.” The promo video thanks its fans for getting it there, but also its exciting programming and special events, which lend themselves so well to its audience and to its social success as well.
In a slightly more public forum, the network also ran an ad in “The New York Times,” “Wall Street Journal” and other pubs. It was an open letter from Univision to the other big broadcasters, signed “America’s New #1 Network.”

Brief Take: Univision has been getting close to this milestone for years, and it is taking this PR opportunity to boast about its ascension to America’s No. 1 network (in any language). This speaks not only to the success of the recent rebrand and programming of the net, but also the power of the US Hispanic demographic in TV.
