Before heading to 1940s Los Angeles for TNT’s “Mob City” on Dec. 4, Turner Classic Movies will hype the theme with an evening of gangster classics.
Hosted by Ed Burns (Bugsy Siegel in “Mob City”) and TCM’s Robert Osborne, the prelude to “Mob City” includes four gangster films on Dec. 3, including: “White Heat” (1949, starring James Cagney), “The Roaring Twenties” (1939, starring James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart), “The Big Heat” (1953, starring Glenn Ford) and “Key Largo” (1948, starring Edward G. Robinson and Humphrey Bogart).
“Mob City” premieres on TNT on Dec. 4 and will air in two-hour blocks on Dec. 4, 11 and 18 on the network.
Brief Take: TCM’s hyping of TNT’s latest series is great synergy, with the co-owned nets forming a clear and logical partnership to promote the TV event.
