Turner Sports and the NBA are teaming with virtual reality and interactive platform LiveLike to bring watch parties and other interactive features to the NBA Playoffs. This marks LiveLike’s first partnership with a major U.S. sports league, although it has worked with Sky Sports on the Premier League as well as Flo Sports.

Integrating LiveLike’s technology allows fans to invite friends to watch parties, interact in live-synced (and thus spoiler-free) chats, trivia, influencer-led features and other customizable options. Different features can be found on NBA.com, the NBA app and TNT Overtime. Part of the appeal of partnering with LiveLike is that customers can integrate the interactive features into their existing offerings, rather than having to spend the time and expensive to create and release something new.

“Bringing an interactive fan experience to the NBA Playoffs with Turner Sports is a key milestone for our company, as we continue to evolve and seek new ways to connect fans with the content they love - particularly at a time during which external factors such as travel and stay-at-home restrictions are forcing us all to re-think what it means to engage with live sports and other events,” said Miheer Walavalkar, co-founder and CEO of LiveLike, in a statement.

Interactive technology such as LiveLike is particularly in demand during a time when fans can’t gather at arenas, bars or even each other’s homes to watch sports together. LiveLike launched five years ago with the intention of bringing virtual reality to live sports.
