TWC Central, replacing the Road Runner site, will now become a place for Time Warner customers to check out news, video streaming, shopping and Time Warner Cable services.

According to the new site, users can use the site as a home page, accessing email accounts, breaking news and video clips, all linking to customers’ social accounts. Time Warner Cable also has plans to begin offering original content through TWC Central, and expand video streaming via twctv.com (accessible with customer subscription information).

In other Time Warner Cable news, Deadline reports that the cable company is open to the idea of a la carte pricing. Its COO, Rob Marcus, reportedly stated that he will continue advocating for customers, adding that he also wants more choice for its cable subscribers. Marcus will become TWC’s CEO at the end of the year.

Brief Take: This new site signifies a small step for Time Warner reaching out to its customers, providing a place for them online to combine their TV, social and online activity. Its new advocacy for “more choice” will hopefully signal bigger changes to come, cutting down on the oft-feared cord-cutting epidemic resulting in soaring costs for cable.
