ABC’s General Hospital scored the top spot for outstanding drama series, while The Talk picked up a surprise win for outstanding talk show hosts, beating Live with Kelly and The View, at the 44th annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The event was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California, and hosted by Extra’s Mario Lopez and The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood. The night began with a performance of Rent’s “Seasons of Love” sung by a choir of soap opera stars, as the whole ceremony was livestreamed on Facebook with close to 30,000 people tuning in.

The 2017 Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2 a.m. - 6 p.m. during 2016.

As the evening unfolded, The Ellen DeGeneres Show nabbed an Emmy for outstanding talk show/entertainment, on the 20th anniversary of DeGeneres’ coming out episode, and ABC’S Good Morning America claimed one of the top prizes for best morning program.

Meanwhile, Steve Harvey, who wasn’t in attendance, grabbed both outstanding game show host for Family Feud and outstanding talk show/informative host for Steve Harvey.

Scott Clifton of The Bold and the Beautiful scored a trophy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, making him the first actor to win in the younger actor, supporting actor and lead actor categories throughout his career.

Speaking of careers, Tim Allen presented longtime Entertainment Tonight host Mary Hart with the lifetime achievement award, and she paid tribute to her mother who recently passed away, as she accepted the trophy.

Entertainment Tonight hosts Nancy O’Dell and Kevin Frazier dedicated their entertainment news program win to producer Bonnie Tiegel who died in January.

And Susan Lucci introduced a video honoring the late Agnes Nixon, creator of All My Children and One Life to Live.

Overall, CBS went home with seven Emmys and ABC with five. General Hospital grabbed four, The Young and the Restless three and The Bold and the Beautiful two.
