The Umbrella Academy will be back in session at Netflix on Wednesday, June 22, series creator and showrunner Steve Blackman said Sunday at SXSW. Netflix also released a teaser and two first-look photos to accompany the announcement.

The Umbrella Academy is based on Gerard Way’s comic-book series and tells the story of adopted siblings who also happen to be superheroes. They come back together to solve the mystery of their adopted father’s death and while doing that, realize there’s an imminent threat of apocalypse.

In season three, after going back in time to 1963 to sort out that doomsday, they return to the present to find that their actions have created an alternate version of themselves: the Sparrow Academy.

The Umbrella Academy stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Colm Feore, Ritu Arya, Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Genesis Rodriguez, Cazzie David and Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton.

It’s produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Netflix. It’s executive produced by Blackman, Jeff F. King, who also directs, Keith Goldberg, Mike Richardson and Jeremy Webb. Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá co-executive produce. Steve Wakefield serves as producer.
