It’s that time of year again: upfronts, when syndicators, broadcast and cable networks, and digital and streaming services showcase their programs and offerings as advertisers prepare to procure the year’s major buys.

In this episode of The Daily Brief Podcast, Michael Teicher, executive vice president of media sales for Twentieth Television, offers both a primer on upfront season and syndication’s role in it as well as a peek into what can be a pretty opaque process.

“You might call us in full Super Bowl-prep right now,” he says, as he and his team prepare to hold some 200 meetings with representatives of more than 300 brands over the next few months.

Above is a look at what a branded spot inside of a syndicated show—in this case, Family Feud—looks like for sponsors.
