The TV show Star is holding a grassroots campaign this month to encourage viewership of its debut premiere on Fox, Wednesday, Dec. 14.
The “Star Glam Tour” will travel across the United States to spread the word about the new series, and give potential viewers the “star” treatment in the form of free manicures, blowouts and braids services to fans via “Miss Carlotta’s Mobile Salon”—a reference to Queen Latifah’s character in the series.
The tour started Monday, Dec. 5, in Nashville and will also hit Atlanta on Dec. 7; New Orleans on Dec. 9; Houston on Dec. 11; Los Angeles on Dec. 17; and Oakland on Dec. 19.

Star, with the title role played by newcomer Jude Demorest, chronicles the lives of three ambitious young singers who are anxious for a new start and clamoring for musical stardom as they move to Atlanta to navigate the competitive music business.
The drama stars acclaimed actors Queen Latifah as Carlotta, Benjamin Bratt as Jahil, and fresh faces Ryan Destiny as Alexandra, Brittany O’Grady as Simone and Amiyah Scott as Cotton, also featuring supermodel Naomi Campbell.
The show is from Empire co-creator and executive producer Lee Daniels, who received his “star” Friday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
As for the show, it will go to its regular time slot with a new episode on Jan. 4.
