A new custom vignette by creative agency Bark Bark mixes the tone of Discovery Communications’ Investigation Discovery with SONIC for a fun promo that shows brand integration at its tastiest.

The spot combines elements from the true crime show, like confessionals, reenactments and a brooding detective on the hunt for perp, with a comic reveal featuring SONIC’s creamery shakes.

The small production crew worked on a tight budget, and converted a gutted video rental store into a gritty detective’s office to capture ID-inspired B-roll. The detective will also make an appearance on a SONIC commercial to connect to the overall campaign.
