Netflix launched an official trailer for Skylanders Academy, which brings characters from Activision Blizzard’s Skylanders franchise to the streaming service.
The popular toys-to-life video game focuses on a group of warriors who use their elemental powers to defend the universe from evildoeers. Skylanders Academy follows the adventures of Spyro, Stealth Elf, Eruptor, Jet-Vac and Pop Fizz as they train the next wave of cadets.
Skylanders Academy premieres October 28 on Netflix, with a two season order that includes 12 initial episodes, and a second season late in 2007.
Skylanders Academy marks the first TV or film project to be produced in house by Activision Blizzard Studios, which was launched in November 2015.
A Call of Duty movie is also coming down the pipeline.
Futurama writer Eric Rogers serves as showrunner, with Activision Blizzard Studios co-presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk executive producing alongside Sander Schwartz.
The series also includes voice talent from Justin Long (Dodgeball, Alvin And The Chipmunks) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) as Glumshanks.
Additional voice work includes Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Chris Diamantopoulos and Harland Williams, The Diamond Minecart, Bobcat Goldthwait, Jonny Rees and Richard Horvitz.
