Director Alison Ellwood revisits iconic ‘80s all-female band, The Go-Go’s, in her feature length film debuting on Showtime on Friday, July 31 at 9 p.m., followed by an encore on Saturday, August 1 at 9 p.m.

The film, which was an official selection of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, chronicles the band’s story with candid testimonies from members of the band themselves. These include Charlotte Caffey (lead guitar, keyboards and vocals), Belinda Carlisle (lead vocals), Gina Schock (drums), Kathy Valentine (bass and vocals) and Jane Wiedlin (guitar and vocals).

The Go-Go’s sprung from L.A.’s early punk scene, but went on to be one of the top-selling pop acts of all time with hits such as “We Got the Beat” and “Vacation.” Their 1981 debut album, Beauty and the Beat, which also featured the song “Our Lips Are Sealed,” was number-one on the Billboard charts for six consecutive weeks and earned a Grammy nomination for the band for best new artist.

Just ahead of the documentary’s premiere on Showtime, the band will release their first single in nearly 20 years, “Club Zero,” on July 31.
