Scott Gemmell has been named executive producer at 1stAveMachine, the company said Monday.

Gemmell is formerly a partner and executive producer at StarBeast and Traction Ave. Films, and vice president/head of studio, content production, at Jaunt X.

He has worked closely with such brands and agencies as AT&T, Audi, Budweiser, Disney, Electronic Arts, Gatorade, Google, Lexus, Microsoft, Sony, 72 & Sunny, TBWA\Chiat\Day, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Leo Burnett, mcgarrybowen, Team One and Saatchi & Saatchi. Among his most notable campaigns are Nike’s “Biomorph,” Toyota’s “The Real Deal,” and Nissan Rogue’s “Commute,” which was helmed by The Italian Job and Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray.

“1stAve is a honeypot of talent and creative content,” Gemmell said in a statement. “The projects they’ve been producing, as well as the roster of talent they’ve been curating over the years was really the initial beacon that drew me to them. After only one meeting with (Partners) Sam (Penfield) and Serge (Patzak), the synergy was there.”

Gemmell’s previous stint as executive producer and head of production at Digital Domain 3.0 earned him many accolades, including an Academy Award nomination for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and an Emmy nomination from a partnership with ESPN, detailing the story of teen Jacob Jarvis, an Ohio State football fan with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He also won a Titanium Cannes Lions and a Grand Clioon for his work on Tupac Shakur’s posthumous 2012 Coachella performance.

At 1stAveMachine, Gemmell will oversee the company’s directorial roster while being responsible for ensuring the quality of content with the growing demand of emerging technology.

“1stAve has always pushed to be at the forefront of utilizing new tech to create content,” Gemmell said. “While they set the highest bar of quality in traditional broadcast commercials and content, they’re also leaning into innovative and even disruptive ways to create content by partnering with global technology companies and platforms. As a leader, my job is to help foster the team’s creativity and bend and shape our content to make it malleable to new technological methodologies.”

“We are thrilled that Scott has joined our roster of EP talent,” said 1stAveMachine Partner/EP Serge Patzak, also in a statement. “Scott’s unique experience with emerging tech in advertising and dedication to excellence in production is a perfect fit for 1stAve as it continues to grow in the area of NFTs, AI, VR and AR.”
