AMSTERDAM — Teams from Italy and The Netherlands took home top honors Tuesday night at the PromaxBDA Europe Awards 2017, with Italy’s RAI and Amsterdam-based DutchToast winning the prestigious Grand Prix Awards. RAI was named marketing team of the year, while DutchToast was named out-of-house agency of the year.

Other companies winning multiple gold awards Tuesday include France 3, BBC Worldwide, AMC Networks International, and the Walt Disney Company.

The annual awards honor outstanding achievement in entertainment marketing and design created for European audiences. Gold, silver and bronze prizes are awarded in categories ranging from funniest promo to outstanding set design.

Matteo Di Pietro of AXN Italy won the association’s prestigious Best New Talent award, recognizing a producer or marketer with less than two years’ experience who is already creating outstanding work.

British actor and comedian Jeff Leach returned for his fourth time as host of the ceremony, which was held at the historic Beurs van Berlage in the heart of Amsterdam.

Finalists were determined after an initial round of online judging by experts from across Europe. A select jury composed of industry experts then met in London, Paris, Munich, Milan and Amsterdam to select Tuesday’s winners.

The ceremony served as the final event of the PromaxBDA Europe Conference 2017. The annual gathering brings together entertainment marketing and design professionals working at broadcasters and agencies in more than 30 European countries.
