Sprout, previously a part of PBS KIDS, was recently taken over by NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group. As the holidays approach, NBC is seeing that the preschool network ups its visibility.
To start, Sprout has opened a pop-up store in Comcast Center in Philadelphia, selling products inspired by Sprout characters. A part of the cable network’s expanded consumer products program, the store will be open every Saturday throughout the month of December. Sprout will also feature performances each Saturday at the location with network faces like Chica (above) as part of the holiday promotion.
Sprout launched as part of PBS KIDS in 2008 and was acquired by NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group this year.
