Cartoon Network teamed up with Amy Poehler’s organization Smart Girls to unveil “Powfactor,” a Powerpuff Girls global campaign that focuses on empowering young women.
The campaign launched Monday across Cartoon Network platforms with a special music video featuring The Powerpuff Girls calling out their “special ingredient”—or Powfactor—and showing how individual traits help positively impact the world around them.
“Just like Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, kids have a special ingredient which makes them heroes,” said Jill King, Cartoon Network senior vice president, marketing and partnerships.
The network also partnered with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls amysmartgirls.com, which will host an original mini docu-series, featuring three episodes that showcase the ways people use their special ingredients to create, teach and inspire those around them.
Beginning with Christina Li, the episodes will also appear on Facebook and Youtube.
An episode with Isadora Jones will premiere Monday, September 26, followed by one with Roots and Rhythms on Monday, October 3.
“Powfactor demonstrates the power that all smart girls (and guys) have when they embrace their individuality to make a difference in their community,” said Meredith Walker, Smart Girls co-founder
The campaign will continue to grow throughout October, as Cartoon Network encourages kids to express their “powfactor” via the CN Sayin’ app, and with a special full week of power-packed premieres that started Monday, September 19. The rebooted Powerpuff Girls airs Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
