To create this spot, Nike’s longstanding creative team at Wieden + Kennedy Portland researched 4,000 sports action sequences before choosing 72 to combine into 36 split-screen moments.
Like so many of Nike’s best spots, this piece merges the two big cultural and social phenomena that are taking place right now: the pandemic and the protests. U.S. Women’s Soccer star Megan Rapinoe delivers the voiceover.
Besides Rapinoe, the spot also features such athletes as LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, Eliud Kipchoge, Caster Semenya, Cristiano Ronaldo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Serena Williams, Colin Kaepernick and Kylian Mbappé.
The lengthy credits includes London-based Pulse Films and director Oscar Hudson; Portland, Ore., and New York City-based Joint for editing and sound; and VFX and color from Santa Monica, Calif.-based A52.
