A sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild is in development, Nintendo announced during its Direct presentation at E3 on Tuesday.
The company unveiled a teaser trailer to make the announcement, which shows Link and Zelda exploring a dungeon together as something mysterious happens to the Hyrule Castle in the distance.
Although further information wasn’t released, the news came to the delight of Zelda fans and those who played Breath of the Wild, one of Nintendo’s best-received Switch games to date. This April, it was revealed that the company has sold nearly $13 million copies—one of the best-selling Zelda games in history.
The new Zelda installation was one of many things announced during Tuesday’s presentation. The company also revealed that Banjo-Kazooie—formerly a Nintendo property—and The Hero from Dragon Quest are the next fighters to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Nintendo also offered updates on the third installation of Luigi’s Mansion, which was revealed in 2018.
In addition to the above gameplay footage, Nintendo announced “ScareScraper,” the online co-op mode that permits up to eight players at a time. Luigi’s iconic Poltergust vacuum will come with new features, like the ability to blow away ghosts’ defenses.
Nintendo marked the last live stream to air ahead of the three-day gaming convention; however, more announcements are expected to come throughout the week.
