The NFL said today it would unveil this fall the third season of “NFL Rush Zone: Guardians,” the sports-based animated action-adventure series that is co-produced by the NFL and Nickelodeon.
Season Three of “NFL Rush Zone: Guardians Unleashed,” will feature 20 original half-hour episodes airing Sundays on Nicktoons and NFL Network.
“NFL Rush Zone: Guardians Unleashed” will also air on Nicktoons.com and NFLRush.com following each episode’s on-air premiere. In addition, full-length episodes will be available on the Nick App the day after each premiere episode.
The series stars 10-year-old Ishmael, who embarks on journeys that require the assistance of NFL players and coaches and his hero friends, the “Guardians.”
Among the NFL players who will voice the animated-versions of themselves this season are Vernon Davis (San Francisco 49ers), Matt Forté (Chicago Bears), Robert Griffin III (Washington Redskins), Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions), Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens), J.J. Watt (Houston Texans) and Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks). Head coaches Marvin Lewis (Cincinnati Bengals) and Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steelers) will also add their vocal talents to the Emmy-nominated series, which is based on NFLRush.com, the NFL’s online destination for kids.
This year, Ishmael and friends develop “enhanced powers to protect the NFL and the world from new and familiar villains,” according to the NFL and Nickelodeon. All 32 NFL teams will be showcased throughout the series, which includes NFL Films footage from actual games.
