“It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission” seems to be the mantra of two FBI agents exploring how murderers think in Netflix’s Mindhunter, from Zodiac’s David Fincher.
The streamer’s latest trailer, featuring Talking Heads song “Psycho Killer,” shows FBI agent Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and his partner Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) going to extreme lengths to study the psyches of serial killers in order to better understand and catch them.
The investigative drama is set in 1979 in the early days of FBI serial killer profiles as the two visit prisons to interview criminals and apply what they learn to current cases.
In addition to Groff (Looking, Glee) and McCallany (Sully, Light’s Out), Mindhunter features Anna Torv (Fringe) and Hannah Gross (Unless).
The series is created by Joe Penhall (The Road), and directed by Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network, Zodiac), Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (A War, A Hijacking) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me 2 Kill Him?).
Fincher, Joshua Donen (Gone Girl, The Quick and the Dead) Charlize Theron (Girlboss, Hatfields & McCoys), and Cean Chaffin (Gone Girl, Fight Club) are executive producers.
Mindhunter premieres October 13 on Netflix.
