On Feb. 26, the team at “Law and Order: SVU” will team up with new series “Chicago P.D.” in “a case so big, it needs two teams to solve it,” according to a new teaser. The two-hour crossover episode will feature the detectives from “SVU” traveling to Chicago to pursue the suspect of a series of disturbing murders.
Leading up to the big event, NBC is using its own airtime, its stars and social properties to promote it. “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’s” Facebook page has posted behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot, the cast of “Chicago P.D.” has engaged with fans during Google Hangouts, and NBC along with each show have been updating viewers via the three Twitter accounts.
Stars from each show have also contributed, continuing to be active on social media. “Chicago P.D.‘s” Sophia Bush, for example, posts behind-the-scenes photos on her Instagram account (the one below has more than 13,700 likes so far):

Brief Take: Using its own air to promote the upcoming event is important, but NBC is also utilizing both casts and social accounts to make sure each show’s fandom is aware of the crossover episode, promoting both shows simultaneously.
