“This is one of the deadliest places on Earth. Every known virus is here,” says Dr. Nancy Jaax P(Julianna Margulies) in National Geographic’s The Hot Zone.
The six-part limited drama chronicles the 1989 discovery of ebola on U.S. soil after it appeared in a research lab in Washington D.C. Adapted from the book of the same name, it’s based on true events as the U.S. Army scientist put her life on the line to prevent an outbreak.
Nat Geo’s trailer debuted at the 2019 Television Critics Association winter press tour, and introduces the show’s characters while building tension, and ending with a suspenseful decontamination shower, says the network.
In addition to Margulies, the cast includes Noah Emmerich (The Americans), Topher Grace (That ’70s Show), Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), Robert Sean Leonard (House), James D’Arcy (Homeland), Grace Gummer (Mr. Robot), and Paul James (The Path).
The Hot Zone premieres May 27 on National Geographic.
