Starz is celebrating Black History Month by honoring “the stories that survived because they are different.”

The network will air a collection of award-winning movies, documentaries and television shows that celebrate influential African Americans who made their mark on history.

To showcase the special programming event, Starz released a 90-second spot featuring comedian and actor Orlando Jones. As Jones is surrounded by clips from monumental shows and films that will be shown, he speaks directly to the camera about what Black History Month is all about.

“This is for the originals,” Jones declares in the spot. “For the gods and goddesses who shaped us. For the first to tell our stories. For the laughs we made, the triumphs we shared, the pain we felt together.”

Featured movies and television shows include films like Beauty Shop, Ray, The Jackie Robinson Story, Sanford and Son, The Bernie Mac Show, and more. Starz original television shows will also be available to download or stream.
