What if one night a year, all crime was legal? Including murder.

That’s the case in USA’s The Purge, based on the movie franchise from Blumhouse Productions.

USA Network revealed a first look at the 10-part series, as well as a September 4 premiere date on USA, with finale episodes simulcast on Syfy.

The Purge is set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, and the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.

From Blumhouse Television and Universal Cable Productions, the series is written and executive produced by the film franchise creator James DeMonaco and led by Jason Blum.

The entire team behind the blockbuster franchise ‎are on board to executive produce, and includes: Michael Bay with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form under the Platinum Dunes banner and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly serves as executive producer and showrunner of the series, and Anthony Hemingway is director and executive producer of the premiere episode.
