To complement MLB Network’s extensive coverage of baseball’s opening week, the network debuted a new campaign on March 28 called “Not That Kind Of Analyst.”
The campaign is a series of five 30-second spots (included above) featuring a different MLB Network analyst in each spot playing the role of a mock baseball therapist with a current Major League player, including the Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout, Arizona Diamondbacks’ Archie Bradley, Seattle Mariners’ Marco Gonzales, Kansas City Royals’ Whit Merrifield and Colorado Rockies’ Kyle Freeland.
The campaign promotes MLB Network’s signature nightly studio show MLB Tonight, and features five MLB Network studio analysts, including three-time All-Star Harold Reynolds, Hall of Famer Jim Thome, 2013 World Series champion Ryan Dempster, 12-year MLB veteran Bill Ripken and two-time World Series champion Al Leiter.
Additional spots with the San Diego Padres’ Austin Hedges, Milwaukee Brewers’ Lorenzo Cain, Texas Rangers’ Rougned Odor and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Max Muncy will debut later this season. The spots were filmed at spring training in Arizona in March and the production of the campaign was done in-house by MLB Network’s promo team.
