Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart, The Boys in the Band) and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) star in Showtime’s eight-episode limited series Fellow Travelers.

The drama, based on the novel by Thomas Mallon, is created by Oscar-nominee Ron Nyswaner and is both political thriller and clandestine love story. Bomer plays Hawkins Fuller, a charismatic political operative who avoids emotional entanglements. That changes when he meets Tim Laughlin (Bailey), who is brimming with both idealism and religious faith.

Their relationship begins just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants.” Over the course of four decades, the series follows five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Jelani Alladin), Lucy (Allison Williams), and Frankie (Noah J. Ricketts) – as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.

Bomer and Nyswaner executive produce along with Robbie Rogers, Dee Johnson and Daniel Minahan, who also directs the first two episodes. Showtime co-produces with Fremantle. The series will premiere on Paramount Plus with Showtime later this fall.
