Fox Sports follows several Latin American baseball players as they find their way to the American minor leagues in pursuit of their major-league dreams.

In the film, Wilson Contreras and Victor Martinez share how difficult it was for them to leave their homes, families and countries and come to the United States to try to score a spot with the Chicago Cubs. Viewers go inside baseball training academies while looking at the many challenges these young men endure, including mastering a second language, assimilating into American culture and gathering the mental toughness required to make it in the big leagues. According to the film, only 6% of professional baseball players make it to the major leagues.

Finding Home: Journey To MLB is executive produced by Seth Gordon, Nikki Calabrese, and Matt Romito. Eric Shanks, Mark Silverman, Charlie Dixon and Barry Nugent of Fox Sports also serve as executive producers. The film is co-produced by MLB and the Chicago Cubs’ in-house production team, Cubs Productions, and is directed by Samuel Peltz.

“Fox Sports invites viewers on an emotional and inspirational journey following these talented Latin American baseball players embarking on their lifelong dream to play in the Major Leagues,” said Barry Nugent, vice president, development and original programming, Fox Sports, in a statement. “Under Seth Gordon’s creative guidance, the film captures the steadfast resilience and determination of these ballplayers, who emigrate to the United States, that is not readily visible to spectators of the game.”

Finding Home: Journey to MLB premiered Saturday, August 5 at 11:30 p.m. ET on FS1 and will be simulcast on Spanish-language sports channel Fox Deportes following the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the San Diego Padres game on Fox.
