After their father is murdered, the Locke kids and their mother move into the family’s ancestral home in Massachusetts only to quickly discover that it’s haunted.
The ten-episode series on Netflix explores what happens when the kids learn that their inheritance includes powerful supernatural keys. The only problem is that a demon wants the keys as well and will stop at nothing to get them.
The series, which is based on the popular IDW graphic novel, has been under development at various outlets for a decade. After Hulu passed over a pilot, Netflix swooped in to pick up Carlton Cuse’s version, which stars Scandal‘s Darby Stanchfield as the kids’ mother. The show also stars Jackson Robert Scott, Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones and Bill Heck.
Cuse, who has been behind such shows as ABC’s Lost and A&E’s Bates Hotel, executive produces alongside co-showrunner Meredith Averill, former Hulu showrunner Aron Eli Coleite, comic author Joe Hill, IDW’s Chris Ryall, Lydia Antonini and Ted Adams; Lindsey Springer for Cuse’s Genre Arts banner; Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, David Alpert and Rick Jacobs for Circle of Confusion; and Tim Southam, John Weber and Frank Siracusa for Take 5.
All ten episodes of Locke & Key debut on Netflix on Feb. 7.
