BBC America debuted the first teaser featuring the Jodie Whittaker as the first-ever female Doctor Who at 2018’s San Diego Comic Con.

“All of this is new to me,” she says in the spot. “New faces, new worlds, new times.”

It also showcases “her new best friends” Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh), Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole) as they travel through space and time.

Whittaker was first introduced as the thirteenth Doctor during the 2017 Christmas special as former Doctor Peter Capaldi said goodbye to the character who regenerates every few years.

Whittaker told fans at Comic Con that she’s not focused on gender.

“I’ve never approached a role thinking, ‘how would a woman do this?’” Whittaker said. “I’ve just approached it from my perspective. The wonderful thing about the doctor is I’m playing an alien, so all those details are irrelevant.”
