After teasing late-night fans all summer with possible hosting news, the network has finally set a date for the new Late Late Show host, James Corden, to make his big on-air debut.
The Late Late Show With James Corden will premiere March 9, 2015, leaving a gap between Craig Ferguson’s last show on Dec. 19, 2014, and the revamped show. The British actor and comedian takes over for Ferguson, who announced his departure last April.
“We’re excited to begin CBS’s next chapter after midnight and introduce James’ wide range of performance talents and fearless creative instincts to American television viewers,” said Nina Tassler, chairman of CBS Entertainment.
The show will tape in Los Angeles at the CBS Television City lot and is expected to fill the months prior to Corden’s appearance with guest hosts, much like The View and Live with Regis and Kelly have done when they were between hosts.
CBS has added Ben Winston as showrunner, who can match wits with his friend Corden as a fellow British writer and producer. Winston is currently working on the British version of The X Factor. Corden and Winston have known each other for years, working together on Corden’s hosting gigs at the Brit Awards.

Brief Take: CBS has not yet announced when the last Late Show with David Letterman will air, but Corden’s debut marks a possible starting line for next year’s late-night changes.
