ITV said Wednesday that it is launching a new Pay TV channel in the UK, the broadcaster’s first new channel launch in eight years.

ITV Encore will initially only be available to Sky subscribers, and feature what the company is calling “the best of British drama.”

The new channel is meant to compliment ITV3 as a home for long-running British drama series, and will feature original programming beginning in 2015.

“The time is absolutely right to build on our successful partnership with Sky with the launch of ITV Encore, which will be an important part of ITV’s family of channels, and will complement ITV3,” said ITV boss Adam Crozier.

ITV content will also be made available to Sky customers through the satcasters other platforms, including Sky Go, and Sky Store.
