In HBO Max’s original comedy Minx, Ophelia Lovibond plays earnest young feminist Joyce who wants to launch a new magazine titled “The Matriarchy Awakens” as the feminist movement is awakening.

After the magazine industry rejects her idea, Joyce is approached by a sleazy but friendly porn publisher (Jake Johnson, who also co-executive produces) who says “you gotta hide the medicine. It’s like when you give a pill to a dog – you dip it in peanut butter first.”

That’s when the idea for Minx is born, featuring photos of naked men alongside feminist essays and reported pieces. At first, Joyce is resistant but she soon finds herself enjoying her new life of partying with porn stars and appearing on TV talk shows.

Besides Lovibond and Johnson, the series also stars Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano and Oscar Montoya. Ellen Rapoport is executive producer, creator and showrunner. Paul Feig and Dan Magnante executive produce for Feigco Entertainment along with Ben Karlin and Rachel Lee Goldenberg, who directed the pilot. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television.

The ten-episode series debuts March 17 with two episodes on Thursday, March 17, and two new episodes premiering each week through Thursday, April 14.
