At a keynote address this morning at the Social TV Sports Summit at Bel Air Country Club, Randy Freer, co-president and CEO of Fox Sports Media Group, told the crowd that “The No.1 goal remains creating great moments and content that people want to passionately engage in.”

Freer’s presentation included examples of recent sports moments that exemplify how great content cuts through, including this recent Tampa Rays highlight involving a solder returned from Afghanistan surprising his daughter by catching the game’s first pitch from her. The moment went viral and became the focal point of a subsequent Rays advertising campaign.

“Content is content – the second screen is a distribution mechanism,” the Fox Sports CEO reminded the crowd. “How do we take this and distribute it? How do we keep content relevant and accessible?”

The Social TV Sports Summit streams throughout today, culminating this evening with the Sports Social TV Awards Ceremony at 5:15 p.m. PT. You can stream it live here.
