Do you two know how lucky you are to have each other?” asks Lisa Kudrow, a guest star in Netflix’s upcoming season four of Grace and Frankie.
“Yeah, I think we do,” responds Jane Fonda as Grace in the latest trailer. The series also stars Lily Tomlin as Frankie. When their husbands (Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston) revealed they were gay back in season one and left Grace and Frankie for each other, the two women’s lives were turned upside down and they formed an unlikely but unbreakable bond as they faced their future head on.
As Netflix described it: “For better or worse. In co-independence.”
Season four will focus on the women coming to terms with how old they are, their bodies and their minds as they age, according to showrunner Marta Kauffman.
“I can’t compete with younger women,” Fonda says at one point in the trailer.
Dating apps, therapy sessions, business ventures, a bad knee, water damage and new life all come into play when the show returns.
Together with their ex-husbands and children, they discover the true definition of “family,” with laughter, tears, and plenty of mood enhancers along the way, says Netflix.
Grace and Frankie premieres January 19.
