After taking over New York and Chicago, the hordes of White Walkers reached Hollywood this past weekend for a Game of Thrones Season 6 Behind the Scenes fan event.

To celebrate the release of Game of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season on Blu-ray and DVD (out now), Game of Thrones: Season 6 - Behind the Scenes was brought to an intersection as dangerous as any in Westeros: Hollywood and Highland. On December 9 and 10, Westeros took over Hollywood, allowing fans of the hit HBO series to feed their hunger for more Game of Thrones while anticipating season 7.

The free event featured never-before-seen content from season 6 and an interactive experience that acts as if the Behind the Scenes disc of the Blu-Ray collection came to life in front of you. That means set pieces, props and production elements from the show brought together to become shareable photo and video opportunities for fans and sellswords alike.

The immersive content includes a dangerous repose upon the deadly Iron Throne, a chance to hold the door just like Hodor, a meet cute with the Weirwood Tree, and a dream come true moment where you ARE the Khaleesi burning the Temple of the Dosh Khaleen (nudity not included). Along the way, you can explore exhibits, plot revenge on your enemies and watch footage from the Blu-Ray/DVD collection, including an in-depth look at “The Battle of the Bastards.”

The highlight for fans was the exclusive virtual reality experience created for the event, that lets you polish your archery skills at Castle Black in preparation for the battle to come. As Tyrion would say, it’s dope.

From Vaes Dothrak to Winterfell, and Castle Black to the North of the Wall, fans got to travel far and wide through Westeros, exploring a side they likely haven’t seen outside of San Diego Comic-Con.

Brief Take: While the next season of Game of Thrones doesn’t arrive until sometime next summer, HBO has to stoke the flames of fan anticipation with TV becoming a year-round game of hot potato. There is no longer such a thing as a marketing hiatus. With season 2 not coming until 2018, one wonders if a behind- the-scenes Westworld experience isn’t far behind.
