The Channel Formerly Known as Bio unveiled its debut slate Wednesday, and it’s heavy on home improvement, food, and makeover shows.
FYI, as the channel is now known, will relaunch on July 7 with the hope of being an “inspiration engine” for upscale young women in their early 40s.
On tap for the debut slate: “The Epic Meal Show,” based on a popular YouTube series, and “The Feed,” a “food comedy road show” hosted by Gail Simmons and Marcus Samuelsson (both of “Top Chef” fame). They’ll be joined by comedian Max Silvestri.
The Hollywood Reporter says that “The Feed” is “part road show, part buddy comedy, and part talk show.” It will start with six one-hour episodes.
One more food entry in the lineup is “World Food Championships,” which will follow chefs competing against each other around the country, and will have another “Top Chef” alum, Tiffany Derry, as the host.
On the Style side of the programming coin, makeover show “B.O.R.N to Style” focuses on an “eclectic” boutique in Harlem and its owner and staff. The initials stand for “borrowed, old, recycled and new.”
“Tiny House Nation” will follow families downsizing into mini dream homes, while “Renovation Row” follows three first-time homeowners competing to revamp three identical urban homes.
In the pipeline: “Jennifer’s Way,” about an entrepreneur trying to expand her NYC gluten-free bakery into an empire, and “Red Hot Design,” about a California designer who takes off-the-wall items and transforms them into upscale furniture.
