UPDATE: Three days until launch, Fox Sports 1 announced it has deals in the works with Time Warner Cable, DIRECTV and DISH Network, adding up to more than 40 million households. All three cable operators will have the channel when it launches, but final deals are still being worked out.

Fox Sports 1’s launch is just days away, and three of the country’s four biggest distributors have yet to sign distribution deals with the nascent sports net.

Time Warner Cable, DIRECTV and DISH Network all claim they are still in talks to carry Fox Sports 1, but no firm deal has yet been made. If the deal is not signed by Saturday, these distributors will continue to have Speed in place of the new, and more expensive, Fox Sports 1.

So far, Comcast, Cox, Verizon’s Fios, AT&T’s U-verse, Cablevision, Charter Communications and Suddenlink have all signed carriage deals.

Brief Take: The anticipated launch of Fox Sports 1 will hit a few snags if these distributors don’t finish up their deals by Saturday, making what’s supposed to be a splashy premiere into what will amount to just a change in one or two distributor schedules.
