A joint venture will bring TV giants CBS Studios International and Europe’s RTL Group together in an effort to target Southeast Asian markets.

The partnership will launch two channels in Asia this September: a general entertainment channel called RTL CBS Entertainment that will air CBS shows like “Elementary” as well as other hits such as “The X Factor” and “Celebrity Apprentice;” and an extreme sports and action-focused channel called RTL CBS Extreme that will feature “Hawaii Five-0” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

“This is another opportunity to use CBS’s internationally successful content to be part of a new channel venture in one of the world’s fastest growing TV regions,” said Armando Nunez, CBS Global Distribution Group’s president and CEO in a statement. “...We’re excited to create an additive way to monetize our content in Asia and provide audiences throughout the region the best television from two of the world’s most successful programming companies.”

Both channels, RTL CBS Entertainment and RTL CBS Extreme, will operate out of Singapore under the joint venture RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network. Programming will reach markets such as Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore, highlighting its content from the libraries of CBS and FremantleMedia.
