Netflix’s original documentary series Flint Town takes an in-depth look at the Michigan town, and the relationship between the community and local police.

“Poverty breeds crimes,” an officer says in the trailer. “And you throw in there a water crisis. How is there not civil unrest?”

In the aftermath of the Flint water crisis where cost-cutting measures lead to tainted drinking water, the documentary explores the struggle of living in a constant state of emergency from the lens of the Flint Police Department.

Consistently named one of the most violent cities in America, the community is still grappling with the coverup of a citywide water contamination, leading to a massive distrust in law enforcement officials.

Police describe working in an environment that’s “scary and intimidating.”

Over eight episodes, filmmakers embedded with the department follow police as they risk their lives to protect, serve and gain the support of their community.

“Police have the power to tear a city apart, or help hold it together,” an officer says in the trailer.

Flint Town is produced in association with Anonymous Content. Steve Golin, David Pritikin and P.G. Morgan serve as executive directors, with Zackary Canepari, Jessica Dimmock and Drea Cooper as co-directors.

The series premieres March 2 on Netflix.
