Netflix has just revealed the meaning behind the name of the upcoming comedy series Santa Clarita Diet.
The series stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, who play husband-and-wife realtors Sheila and Joel, who reside in the suburbs of Los Angeles with their teen daughter Abby (Liv Hewson).
If the premise all sounds too cookie-cutter, the series soon winds “down a road of death and destruction” when Sheila dies and resurrects as a zombie.
As the new picture from the show reveals, above, Sheila returns to the land of the living with a craving for blood, raw meat and humans (which is the meaning of the show’s diet—hemophobes, beware).
Better Off Ted showrunner Victor Fresco executive produces the off-kilter comedy along with Barrymore, Olyphant, Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller, and Ember Truesdell.
Netflix also released a few diet-spoofing campaign images from the series.
