The television nominations for the 28th annual Producers Guild Awards were unveiled Thursday morning.

Newcomers such as FX’s Atlanta, HBO’s Westworld and Netflix’s Stranger Things each earned nominations, according to Variety.

Among the nine TV categories announced this morning covering series/specials, children’s programs, long-form television, sports programs and digital series are 2016 winners Game Of Thrones, Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver and Sesame Street (all from HBO). NBC’s The Voice and Crackle’s Comedians In Cars also return as defending champs.

HBO’s Westworld and Netflix’s Stranger Things both broke into the drama series race. The two will contend for the prize at the Jan. 28 ceremony against HBO’s Game of Thrones, the reigning Emmy winner for drama series and the PGA’s 2016 pick, AMC’s Better Call Saul and Netflix’s House of Cards.

FX’s Atlanta was the lone newcomer in the comedy series pack, which will go toe-to-toe against HBO’s Silicon Valley and Veep (which has garnered back-to-back Emmy victories the last two years) and ABC’s Black-ish and Modern Family. Amazon’s Transparent took the comedy honor in 2016.

The PGA’s longform category is a hot competition among the big winner at last year’s Emmy Awards, FX’s The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and Netflix’s Black Mirror, AMC’s The Night Manager, HBO’s The Night Of and PBS’ Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.

In the talk-variety category, TBS’ Full Frontal With Samantha Bee was the newcomer in the category. CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden is also a contender along with HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which took the Emmy for talk-variety in September and got the 2016 PGA nod, and Real Time with Bill Maher and NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

The PGA’s reality-competition lineup was the usual suspects: NBC’s The Voice (a back-to-back Emmy winner and 2016 PGA pick) and American Ninja Warrior, CBS’ The Amazing Race, Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle and Bravo’s Top Chef.

Also on the list is Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, which is up in the Outstanding Children’s Program category for Season 2 and Season 3.

Winners will be revealed Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Beverly Hilton.
