Netflix on Wednesday released an extended featurette of its upcoming Marvel series Iron Fist, due March 17.
In a promo entitled “I Am Danny,” Danny Rand (Game of Thrones’ Finn Jones) explains Danny’s mindset upon returning to New York. After being orphaned following a mysterious plane crash, Danny is taught the ways of mystical martial arts in K’un-Lun before returning home 15 years later. He is seen longing to reunite with his childhood friends Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey) and Joy (Jessica Stroup)— however, when the hero comes back, he is greeted with ridicule and skepticism from those he once considered friends.
“Danny has been told his whole life that there’s a mythological dark force in the world, and he didn’t really believe they were real,” Jones reveals as the clip cuts to a shot of Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho) standing on a balcony.
As the featurette continues, there is a sneak peek of some of the show’s early fight scenes and his first meeting with Colleen Wing. And, towards the end there is an exclusive glimpse of Madame Gao’s part in the series as a primary antagonist, who thinks there is no place for Iron Fist in New York.
Iron Fist was developed by Scott Buck, and was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane for Marvel Comics. The cast also includes Jessica Henwick, David Wenham and Rosario Dawson.
Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres March 17 on Netflix.
