PromaxBDA this year held the Creating What’s Next student competition. Winners were announced by Extra’s Mario Lopez on video on May 16 and also celebrated on the PromaxBDA stage in New York last week.

Students were asked to enter work created while enrolled in an accredited program in 2017. That work was judged by executives from networks and creative agencies, including including A+E Networks, Fox, NBC, Univison, Disney, Hammer Creative, Pop TV, Roger and more.

This spot, by Ringling College of Art and Design‘s Josh Galindo, won gold for best use of music.

“Party in the Treme” proves that vibrant music can make the simplest of animation pop.
