Courteney Monroe, previously the CEO of National Geographic Channels U.S., has been promoted as part of restructuring as National Geographic Society partners with 21st Century Fox.
Now CEO of National Geographic Global Networks, Monroe will oversee programming and marketing for channels under the National Geographic brand around the world and National Geographic Studios.
“National Geographic is one of the world’s most trusted brands, delivering unique and compelling storytelling of science, discovery and wonder to consumers for over a century,” said National Geographic Partners CEO Declan Moore. “We’re excited to officially begin our journey to bring a new and integrated National Geographic experience to people worldwide.”
The former CEO of National Geographic Channels International, Ward Platt, will become COO of the National Geographic Partners venture, the new partnership formed between Nat Geo and Fox this September.
The company restructure also adds the title of editorial director for National Geographic Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Susan Goldberg, and moves Jeffrey Schneider to the role of head of business and legal affairs for National Geographic Partners.

Brief Take: One of the goals of the partnership is to create more synergy between Nat Geo’s print, online and TV initiatives. Nat Geo’s TV channels currently reach about 500 million households in more than 170 countries.
