Acorn TV unleashed a gripping sneak peek at the upcoming drama Code of a Killer premiering Feb. 27.
The three-part miniseries stars David Threlfall as DCS David Baker, an investigator who’s tasked with looking into the gruesome murders of two Leicestershire school-aged girls during the early 1980s.
And just a few miles away, Leicester University scientist Dr. Alec Jeffreys (John Simm), invents an industry-changing technique to read each human’s unique DNA fingerprint.
Based on a true story, the series recounts the first time DNA fingerprinting was used to help track down a murderer, which seemed almost unbelievable at the time to use as a police tool.
In the clip, DCS Baker gets into an argument with a police colleague regarding its usage in the hunt.
“I don’t know,” Baker says to a colleague skeptical about a potential suspect, “but the DNA proves it beyond doubt.”
Code of a Killer premieres Monday, Feb. 27 to Acorn TV.
