FXX and the cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia bring the daredevil antics of Mac’s “Project Badass” to fans’ virtual reality headsets in a fully scripted, narrative virtual reality experience.
The four-minute VR clip, also available on YouTube (above), features appearances from all five of the show’s stars, Dennis, Dee, Charlie, Mac and Frank as they setup for one of Mac’s “Project Badass” stunts, which folds the technology into the plot of the latest episode airing, Wednesday, Feb. 15 on FXX. In it, Mac and Danny DeVito’s Frank get sucked into a VR war game that gives Mac post-traumatic stress disorder.
The clip marks the latest effort by a TV sitcom to embrace VR, which was made in partnership with Jaunt, a virtual-reality company that has also produced VR and 360-degree video for ESPN and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
“Project Badass” is available via computer or mobile device through FX network’s official website, which features a 360-degree version of the clip. The experience is also available in full immersive virtual reality, using the Jaunt VR app.
