Ahead of the start of 2019’s major upfront week—featuring presentations from NBC, New Fox, Disney, Warner Media, CBS and Univision—CBS released the first teaser trailer for new series Evil from Robert and Michelle King, the creators of CBS’ The Good Wife and CBS All Access’ The Good Fight.
In a big divergence from the Kings’ previous two series, which were both largely set in law firms, Evil focuses on a skeptical female psychologist, Kristen Bouchard (Westworld‘s Katja Herbers), who joins priest-in-training David Acosta (Marvel’s Luke Cage‘s Mike Colter) and carpenter Ben Shroff (The Daily Show‘s Aasif Mandvi) to investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries. These include supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and hauntings.
The Kings executive produce along with Liz Glotzer for CBS Television Studios, with Robert King directing the pilot. Also starring are Michael Emerson as Leland Townsend, Brooklyn Shuck as Lynn Bouchard, Sklyar Gray as Lila Bouchard, Maddy Crocco as Lexis Bouchard and Dalya Knapp as Laura Bouchard.
Evil is set to debut next season on CBS.
