When Showtime’s SMILF — a series created, executive produced by and starring Frankie Shaw — returns for season two, struggling single mom Bridgette Bird (Shaw) is trying to figure out exactly who she is.

She’s looking both forward and back as she tries to focus on her future while exorcising old ghosts. Meanwhile, she’s still working for her narcissistic boss, Ally (guest star Connie Britton) and dealing with her mother (Rosie O’Donnell in her first TV series starring role) and co-dependent younger sister Jackie (guest star Sherie Rene Scott). Meanwhile, viewers will join Brigette as she remembers the chaotic birth of her son Larry (Alexandra and Anna Reimer).

Besides Britton and Scott, season two will feature an array of high-profile guest stars, including Melanie Griffith, Ally Sheedy and Stormy Daniels. Shaw will direct several episodes, along with Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Cate Shortland (Marvel’s Black Widow).

Executive producing alongside Shaw are Michael London, Lee Eisenberg and Scott King. The series is produced by Allyce Ozarski and Zach Strauss. SMILF is produced by ABC Signature Studios as a co-production with Showtime.

SMILF returns for season two on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
